Installed cryptofree and now internet kaput!

Just in need of a little assistance in regards to cryptofree using latest Narwhal on Windows 7.

After a recent installation all worked fine although a little slow (fair enough) then bang, while connected to cryptofree no internet I just get page not found or server not found and a DNS error using Chrome and also Firefox.

Disconnect cryptofree and internet comes back. My thought was that there may be a lot of users connected to the free service.

The next day I'm getting the same error without connecting to the cryptofree service. Internet is now at a stand still. I get the occasional burst of internet where it loads fine then nothing. Not realising at the time that it was this software that has assisted in this issue I installed on another persons PC also using Windows 7. At the time we couldn't load any web pages while cryptofree was connected. I get a text that evening saying I have no internet at all now on my PC.

I decided to uninstall the whole thing today and I'm still getting issues.

Any help would be much appreciated as this is making things very awkward especially business.

It's been a while since I have attempted to use CS. i might give it another go soon.

The issue I stumbled across was that my PC's DNS was changed by CS to a French server which from my location was sooooooo very slow. Changed back to my ISP's DNS and I have internet back :)

Each exit node has its own DNS resolver, the address of which gets pushed to the client upon successful connection. This ensures that your DNS requests are seen only by the exit node, rather than your ISP.

The cryptofree service runs on a couple of nodes which are indeed located in France, so yes if that location is slow from where you are, it would be inadvisable to connect to it. However, the CS service is cheap enough that buying a 7-day token for a try-out - while connecting to a node geographically closer to you - is certainly worth it.
