You might have heard or were affected by a recent DDOS attack on the e-mail provider Protonmail from Switzerland. It began on November 3rd and has been over for a few hours now. I don't want to bore you with details, because the guys from Protonmail made a nice blog post here
about the attack.
What I find very odd is that there was another DDOS attack on another e-mail provider, Runbox (blog post
), from Norway. That one only took a few hours to fix, but what are the odds of two e-mail providers, who fight for security and privacy, getting attacked at nearly the same time?
Even more concerning are there news that more attacks might follow. Apparently they're not telling the whole story or know more than they can tell now.
