NSA talk by Jacob Appelbaum, it is worse than we imagined.

Freewheeling spot to chew the fat on anything cryptostorm-related that doesn't fit elsewhere (i.e. support, howto, &c.). Criticism & praise & brainstorming & requests for explanation... this is where it goes when it's hot & ready for action! :-)

Ever single one of you should watch this talk.

My comments:
I'm not too terribly surprised by any of this, yes, even the stuff at the end. Then again, the stuff at the end enters my knowledge domain. Video was a nice trick, I didn't think they would be able to have the BW for that. Most of the other stuff they did with RF is something I considered when I first learned how RFID works.

Hopefully now people will understand why I suggested physically removing wireless hardware and purchasing your laptop from WalMart using cash. Even that was not paranoid enough.

The hard drive exploit is something that I saw about a month ago, no surprise there: http://spritesmods.com/?art=hddhack
JTAG exploits are not surprising given that is how we mess with cable modems, routers, and XBOXes.

PCI/PCIe bus should not be a surprise if you have seen this: http://www.breaknenter.org/projects/inception/

While unsurprised, I was impressed that they managed to do the NIC injection in 2008 in such a small formfactor.

What surprised me the most was their interdiction abilities and race attacks, mainly because they figured out how to beat the signal.

Nasty stuff... tempted to fully get rid of the laptop and mobile phone...
