Thank you all in advance:)

It's so easy to say. I lost a whole evening trying to do that.
But. Exitnode "St Petersburg - Russia:Russia:windows:windows-stpetersburg.cstorm.pw" doesn't work, I got a "Rome - Italy:Italy:windows:windows-rome.cstorm.pw" in this case.
And exitnode "Deneb - Cygnus:Cygnus:windows:windows-balancer.cstorm.pw" doesn't exist at all.
Thank you anyway:)

OK, I see what the problem is now - a pity you didn't explain it fully in the first place, eh? :P Anyway, this is just a holding post until I get a chance investigate things a little further.

Will post soon...

@OP

OK, I think I know what the problem is.

1. Make sure you're using the latest version of the client. I'm using 2.22.
2. Make sure you hit "Update" to get the latest exit node list.
3. All of the nodes actually work perfectly well - I checked each of them manually. There appears to be an issue where even if "Save" is ticked in the widget, your new token does not get saved to disk until you actually quit the widget, when in reality it should save the token when you get a successful connection.

Because of this, when you select a new exit node, the old token (or the default one for the free service) is used instead of the new one. This happens whether the token is supplied in its original form or its SHA512 form. If you look in

Code: Select all

C:\Program Files\Cryptostorm Client\user

you will see a file called client.dat. If you open this file in Notepad you will see that in consists of two lines: the first line is the SHA512 hash of a saved token and the second line is a default password.

If the hash in the file and the hash of your newest token do not match, replace the one in the file with the one you wish to use, then start the client. It *should* pick up the new token - in my case however, for some reason it didn't; it managed to hold onto the previous one even though I had quit the client before editing the file. Very odd.

In nowadays connection to exitnode Deneb - Cygnus:Cygnus:windows:windows-balancer.cstorm.pw works but as connection to exitnode St Petersburg - Russia:Russia:windows:windows-stpetersburg.cstorm.pw makes IP 95.110.228.44 Italy.
And widget doesn't "Automatically restart with Windows". It is pretty bad.

Hi,

Deneb - Cygnus:Cygnus:windows:windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
will pick a random exit node (considering DNS TTL of course)

Russia:Russia:windows:windows-stpetersburg.cstorm.pw makes IP 95.110.228.44 Italy.
This is a DNS redirect due to the fact that windows-stpetersburg has been taken out the exit node pool.

And widget doesn't "Automatically restart with Windows".
This could be related to registry settings.

Regards,

/Fermi

"And widget doesn't "Automatically restart with Windows".

"windows-stpetersburg has been taken out the exit node pool" it is not cos this exitnode presents/persists in exitnodes poot after any update of the pool(button Update).
"Deneb - Cygnus:Cygnus:windows:windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
will pick a random exit node (considering DNS TTL of course)" would you please explain what you mean.

@OP

The actual physical machine is not part of the exit node pool - it has been taken out of production. When you get try to connect to it, you get redirected to a different exit node, in this case Italy.

"Deneb - Cygnus:Cygnus:windows:windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
will pick a random exit node (considering DNS TTL of course)" would you please explain what you mean.

When your computer looks up the IP address for windows-balancer.cstorm.pw, it gets back one random IP address out of a pool of IP addresses:

Code: Select all

Server:         127.0.0.1
Address:        127.0.0.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 104.238.194.237
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 109.71.42.164
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 95.110.228.44
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 185.60.147.78
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 5.154.191.25
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 212.129.25.237
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 212.83.163.209
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 162.221.207.233
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 124.35.151.86
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 76.164.234.13
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 130.180.201.118
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 46.165.222.245
Name:   windows-balancer.cstorm.pw
Address: 103.254.153.242

These IP addresses are for each CS exit node; the Deneb option just hands you a random one.

I need your answer what to do.

I don't understand you. Please explain it a little bit wider.
When your computer looks up the IP address for windows-balancer.cstorm.pw, it gets back one random IP address out of a pool of IP addresses:
so you mean that widget's menu position "Global random" and "Deneb - Cygnus" are the same things? But "Global random" is not in the list of exitnodes, and what for is so strange menu of the widget doing the same things and making in the different way?

@OP

1. Connect to the Russian node and check your IP address. Then connect to the Italy node and check your IP address. They will be the same.

2. Yes, Deneb and Global Random do the same thing. One of the entries was probably left in by accident.

I told you it, I GOT ITALIAN IP IN BOTH CASES, THERE IS NOT ANY RUSSIAN ADDRESS.

I still don't have the answer how to fix this problem.

Which is what we said, the Russian node has been taken out of production, attempts to connect to it are redirected to the Italian node. For further information, see this link.

OK got it.
"And widget doesn't "Automatically restart with Windows".

And I do not have the answer how to fix this problem again and again. Is it something forbidden to ask?:)
Or it some kind of the hidden knowledge, something not for newbies, for guru only?:)
