OVP Android Issues

Post by fiddef » Sun Dec 30, 2018 7:21 pm

Afternoon Chaps,

I'm having some issues with the Android OVPN Method. Just to give you a little bit of background the OVPN Client was working fine following instructions and using specified .ovpn files.

One day i went to use it and found that the VPN would connect but and minimal amounts of traffic would be sent/received but i couldn't actually access any sites.

I've since reinstalled it, tried various config files and used my standalone token and a new hashed one to the same effect.

Has anyone seen this before?

Thanks in advance :?:

**UPDATE**

I've just checked power saving options and ensured that OVPN is excluded from these..

I haven't heard of anything like this happening, but my suggestion would be to make sure you're using the latest OpenVPN for Android app from http://plaisthos.de/android/ics-openvpn ... stable.apk

Other than that, check the logs and see if anything unusual is there (or post it here and we'll look into it)

Sorry for the late reply..

I was using the one from the PlayStore so should be the latest, guess i could try a sideloaded APK

Logs seem fine, it connects without a problem but still can't access any site using multiple browsers..

I just talked to someone else who had this same issue, they also were using the app from Google's Play Store.
The problem ended up being that Google Play Store has v0.7.5 of the app, which uses OpenSSL 1.1.0h, and the Ed25519/Ed448 configs require at least OpenSSL 1.1.1.
F-Droid has version 0.7.6, which uses OpenSSL 1.1.1
http://plaisthos.de/android/ics-openvpn-0.7.7.apk has the very latest 0.7.7, which uses OpenSSL 1.1.1a

So either install the one on F-Droid or install the .apk from the link above
