iOS connection etc

Postby MrXander » Mon Nov 06, 2017 9:19 am

New here - and with VPN.
(Please forgive naivete. I have read the forums for an hour and not finding answers, so jumping in.)

Just connected to CS on my iMac* - IP is now Portugal and I in USA so that "seems" to be working.

I am trying to set up on iPhone iOS - seems iTunes just dropped the apps choice and all the directions here go through that. Suggestions on getting set up on iPhone iOS?

[My partner is working on connecting the CS on Windows and then Android, so this should be an interesting week of learning and configuring.]

* getting error message
"After connecting to cstorm_Balancer, DNS does not appear to be working.
This may mean that your VPN is not configured correctly."

installing via OpenVPN Connect ? The thread above might also have useful hints (at least its a start xD) .

It also teaches how to enable the correct cipher-suite choice ie AES-256-CBC ..

Its a pity that Viscosity only makes vpn clients for Windows and macOS .. hope they allow multi-OSes eventually (its a paid app but do try the trial version should you face Windows connection issues).

My step by step guide here still works perfectly for me:

1. Download the app OpenVPN. Go into the iPhone's Settings app, locate OpenVPN, and enable "Force AES-CBC ciphersuites"

2. Download the app ZipViewer

3. Go to https://github.com/cryptostorm/cryptost ... tion_files

4. If you are on the mobile version of the page, scroll down to the bottom and click "Desktop Version"

5. Click the green "Clone or Download" button.

6. Click "Download ZIP".

7. Click "Open in..." in the upper left hand corner.

8. Select "Copy to ZipViewer".

9. Drill down into the Mac folder.

10. Select the .ovpn file of your choice.

11. Click the icon in the lower left that looks like a box with an arrow pointing up.

12. Select "Copy to OpenVPN".

13. Click the Green + sign.

14. Leave the certificate as "none selected"

15. Put your hashed (or un-hashed) token into the User ID box.

16. Put anything you want in the password field (I put a single letter).

17. Click save.

18. Connect and Enjoy.
