Seedbox VPS OVH

Postby kapu » Tue May 02, 2017 5:58 am

Hi there, I would like to set up a seedbox on a OVH VPS (with debian).
I first correctly set up the DNS between my domain name and the VPS. The when I lauched the openvpn --config [abcde.ovpn] it seems to be working but I can't access to my website anymore. How can I manage that? Should redirect the DNS from my domain name to the vpn ipv4 address? How can I find this address in that case?

Or, if one of you use yunohost: https://yunohost.org/#/ and this app :https://github.com/labriqueinternet/vpnclient_ynh?

Thanks :)

In fact, is there any public IP to redirect the DNS to?

@OP

So the OpenVPN client is running on this seedbox? Is that correct?

@OP

I think the issue is the routing table. Check the routing table when the VPN is active, specifically the default route. I suspect it is changing the default route to the exit node of the VPN on the tun0 interface, which is why your web server will not respond to queries.

The way to address this is to set a static route between your seedbox and your home IP address, i.e:

Code: Select all

sudo route add <your.home.ip.address> gateway eth0

I'm not sure how to add this permanently to a Debian install, so you'll have to look it up. :) Once the route is set and working correctly, you'll probably want to set up the firewall to avoid DNS leaks and improve the security.

Which OS is running on your home machine?
