The VPS provider behind it (vstoike.ru) killed the VPS due to too many kiddie porn complaints from people finding CP on .onion's accessible via torstorm.org.

I have backups though, whenever I get done with some other things, and whenever I find a VPS provider that won't instantly kill torstorm for similar complaints, I'll bring it back up somewhere.

Just out of curiosity, does that mean that CS users, even with paid tokens, can no longer access .onion sites?

@JTD121
No, CS users with paid tokens will still be able to transparently access .onion sites.
The torstorm.org service was free for anyone to use, but it was unrelated to the transparent .onion access that the paid nodes provide.

All paid subscribers have transparent access to .onion and .i2p sites. Simply enter the target address into the software of choice (browser/ssh client/whatever) and it should Just WorkTM.

Hi, I'm also a paid subscriber but I can't access to .onion websites =/
For example the duckduckgo onion service doesn't work for me =/: http://3g2upl4pq6kufc4m.onion/

I have this message: DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

How can I solve this?

@kapu,@DeepDarkBaguette

Firstly, what browser are you using and on which platform? If you are using Firefox, did you edit the config to permit .onion domains?

If not, got to about:config, and do a search for onion. There's a setting called network.dns.blockDotOnion. Set this to false.

If this doesn't work, then the issue likely concerns your DNS settings in your OS.

Ok, I tried it in firefox but it doesn't work =/ How do I do for chromium? I don't find the way to do so.

And how to I modify my DNS settings? I use linuxmint 18.1.
In my network manager I stopped the automatic DNS in the IPv4 option and added your DNS servers for DeepDNS.

Or maybe should I configure the resolve.conf file?

@kapu

In a terminal do

Code: Select all

nslookup 3g2upl4pq6kufc4m.onion

and report back what you get. Thanks. :)

@kapu
Don't manually set your DNS, let OpenVPN handle it.
If you're on CS but you set your DNS to an IP different than what's pushed by the server, the transparent .onion/.i2p/etc. thing won't work.
