Just bought my first token

Postby Y1G » Fri Apr 10, 2015 2:36 am

So I just bought my first token and have it in my email waiting to be redeemed.
I am using Kali Linux AMD 64 I don't know what version and am wondering how to redeem this. Any help is appreciated as I don't know if this VPN uses OpenVPN or something else and couldn't find a clear answer on here.

Hi Y1G,

Wellcome here.

I'm not shure if I understood well, your question is how to find the version number of your Kali distribution ?

The command lsb_release -a gives you the version of the distribution.

Yes you can connect with openVPN. Make shure to have the newest version of openvpn and openssl installed.

To connect, you can use your Network Manager.
With KDE GUI there is the comfortable tool NetworkManager.
With Gnome and other graphical Linux GUIs there are equivalent tools.

You import the config-files in your manager, copy-paste the SHA512(your-token) in the username field and leave the password-field empty (or take the "standard-password" 93b66e7059176bbfa418061c5cba87dd).

You can also use a GUI for openVPN to install the connections.

Third solution: you launch in a simple konsole-window openvpn --config theconfigfile.conf
(You must probably launch openvpn as superuser.)

In this case, you have to create a file somename.txt with your hashed username and standard-password (file with two lines) and write the name of this file in your config-files, at the right side of "auth-user-pass". (In the config-file there must be written "auth-user-pass somename.txt" instead of "auth-user-pass").

Then you launch the command from above and you'll be on.

I can try, but I can't promise because I don't have so much time and will be absent in some days, work etc., I don't know your Linux distribution.

Twitter will not be possible, I don't have a twitter account (this media is not for me, sorry).
Perhaps in a chat (but there could be time difference between us) - we can try first in the forum.

I can show you screenshots...

What graphical user interface have you installed on your linux distribution ? (KDE, Gnome, XFCE...)?

Go to the menu, system->Info Center->Graphical Information, something like that, there you should get the information if you don't know.

What did you get with the lsb_release -a command ?

Would you say that you are a beginner on Linux ?
