yellow to red - ports - Maple

Postby spotshot » Wed Sep 10, 2014 5:28 am

up until a few weeks ago,
Utorrent had always shown either yellow or green icon for connections,
for last couple weeks it's nothing but red.

does anyone know if something changed on Maple node
that is causing this?

Just a little info, since you will be sharing the exit ip with someone else, maybe your port is already in use, it did happen to me, since the first user that registers the port do actually get's to have it forwarded.
Since I'm running a seedbox and it is always connected I've put a abnormal port and I get GREEN all the way, but maybe for you, should put "random" in the conf's. Or try a different port ;)

I've consider that, I switch ports each time utorrent is opened,
I've been changing port for sometime.

@Tealc

You get GREEN on your seedbox because the seedbox isn't firewalled; every port is open, which enables torrent clients to initiate connections to you - you are "connectable". Operating a torrent client via CryptoStorm is less efficient, because while you can initiate connections and receive replies, other clients cannot initiate connections to you - you are "unconnectable", due to the fact that CryptoStorm exit nodes are firewalled such that the only port which will accept new connections from the public Internet is port 443.

The chances are that the best you will get when running a torrent client over CryptoStorm's network is YELLOW.

I was very happy with Yellow, I liked having the yellow,
but, for several weeks, the only color I get is Red

I can live with red, just can't figure why

@spotshot

RED means that uTorrent cannot communicate with the rest of the Internet (AFAIK), inbound or outbound. Are you sure you can live with it? :P

the speeds for downloads are not what they use to be,
I can still pull about 500kB with Red, sometimes I can
get it up to a 1000 if I have enough downloads as once.

, I use to go as high as 3000, that was on node in MD,
before it shutdown and emerald started up.

but connection speed isn't what it use to be.

if Iceland node was faster I would use it, I can get green icon
with that one, but because of distance, speeds are low.

I will run emerald for a few hours couple times a week to check,
maple is much faster for me.
