Re: Purchase Network Tokens

Hello nageol, I want to step forward and welcome you in the community. I am happy to see the first reseller of Tokens here in the forums. As one of the many potential customers around here I have a question about your offer and I hope you will answer it: I see your prices are considerably higher tha...

Re: cryptostorm: our terms of service

I said it on Twitter and I will repeate it here: "You don't need to be a lawyer to understand and appreciate this revision of the ToS as a change for the better." but that doesn't mean I won't put in my two cents... The interesting changes start at "In conclusion..." From a pract...

Re: unlimited network usage, & reconnect testing request

If your router drops the connection, it should automatically re-initiate it - although we'd much prefer to see beta testers confirm this behaviour with formal testing, and will ensure that happens in due course. Well, there is an optional firewall configuration for the extra paranoid folks that wil...

Re: Slow speeds | optimising cipher suite performance

Greetings from Germany! Speeds are not all that great over here but that's what I'd expect with an exit node in Montreal. ;) btw: I've got a 50MBit Connection, so I normally get download speeds around 6 Megabytes per Second. The ping I am used to is around 20 ms. (Even with my old VPN provider.) I h...

Re: cryptostorm running DNS resolvers in-house? Discussion..

Even though I fully trust the CCC I also understand Waldos reservations. The milae.net DNS really looks strange and I felt not comfortable about it when I saw it running DNS leakage tests. Afaik it's pretty unusual for a DNS IP to also point to some kind of video streaming page. Also choosing and us...

Re: HOWTO: Ubuntu Network Manager plug-in

Well the terminal commands are just there to add the openVPN capabilities into Network-Manager. Those have no influence on the client configuration itself. Not being able to save ...

Re: Grave problems with Arne Schwabes openVPN for Android!

Ok! All-Clear! This is both embarrassing and a relief for me but I can now say with confidence that Arne Schwabes OpenVPN Client is SAFE! . It was not the option our friendly guest suggested but another, more obscure Checkbox that had to be enabled to protect from IP leaks if the VPN drops. Actually...

I'll try your option + some other settings and rerun the leak test. This will take some hours to make sure there are really no leaks. I'll report back in the evening.

Re: Grave problems with Arne Schwabes openVPN for Android!

Thanks for the quick response. It's motivating to see that this kind of testing is taken seriously even if it might end up being a big inconvinience for the team. I didn't file a bugreport yet. I will put it on my 2DO-List and try to get to it till the evening. Concerning your in-house fork of Arne ...

Grave problems with Arne Schwabes openVPN for Android!

This is a quick copy&paste with some minor edits from what I already sent to the cryptostorm_team via email. It shall serve as a warning for the community. Bad News! I always preffered openVPN Connect over Arne Schwabes openVPN for Android because the former one seemed way more reliable to me. ...

Re: cryptostorm: "leaks," DNS leaks, & routing tune-ups

I cannot provide a wireshark log but for the sake of completeness I'll tell you here what I already wrote via email: Using the Linux terminal guide will lead to DNS leaks if you have a router that pushes your ISP DNS-Servers via DHCP. It simply overwrites the DNS-Servers pushed by the VPN. This espe...

Thanks for the guide. I'll try it out later even though I see nothing you did that a simple "import config" wouldn't have done, too. (apart from the username password thingie, of course.) Concerning iOS: My first real smartphone was the iPhone 4 and I used it for years but I am now on andr...

Even though I think it is a good idea to add the forum to the contact page, I think it is a bad idea to remove the 'direct link' from the frontpage menu. It might just be my personal mindset but I had a bit of a hard time finding the link to the forum after you made the changes. The contact page som...

exit node location: security implications & discussion

May I add one of my questions? Feel free to delete/move my post if it doesn't fit in here.

Does the location of the vpn exit node have any impact on the level of privacy/security cryptostorm_vpn can offer? (Concerning technical reasons/practical reasons/etc)

Re: HOWTO: cryptostorm network connections from Linux

The amount of coincidences is very strange indeed, while outdated software in the main distro repos unfortunately is not. This is the reason I strongly support the idea of a special repo maintained by the cryptostorm_team. I know it is somewhat of an extra load of work for the team but you can never...

Hey there folks! I use Ubuntu 13.04 and had some problems with the repo you suggested in this thread because it seems to be unreachable. I found two nice and easy *.deb files though.
