Re: stormlink: the "cryptostorm router" thread...

Cheers mate :) I'll no doubt continue to fiddle. If I gain any clarity, with numbers and stuff:D, I'll let you know. Or just drop it, which may be equally as likely if my foray into the Dr Suess webpage of network topology is anything to go by. Baffling and best left alone :D Oh, and just to be clea...

...you telling me I have to get this I Fixed The Internet tattoo removed? :wtf: :D There is a good chance I'm an idiot, yes, and a long winded one at that. But-but-but...I read about this. Loads! I can accept the mistake is mine, but all the advice on this ceiling issue seemed to imply it was a hard...

Re: stormlink: the "cryptostorm router" thread...

If may, I'd like to share my experience of using CS through a router, and some of the problems I have had. It may be useful, but it's only from a layman consumer's POV, not from the uber geek level. I suspect, if you get this thing going, you'll deal with it's consequences at some point from a perce...

...and I suppose,if they sit on the Turing exit node, and I habitually use it cos it's fastest, CS is actually drawing more attention to me than riding bareback would when I log into my bank or whatever. Oh wondrous joy :D Whatever. PS.The forum 'hide being online' check box is a broken, isn't it? T...

Re: Impending UK Law - "Snooper's Charter".

I hear you on the pointlessness of the law in terms of it's effectiveness in suppressing the true wrong 'uns, to stick to my instinctive demotic language usage. Also, completely with on your analysis of the prole mindset..although we massively generalise, of course (is there any other way to grasp a...

Re: Impending UK Law - "Snooper's Charter".

Thank you, @parityboy. The vague hysteria I seem to be displaying is a result of a suspicion that this is just the beginning (and the smoke before writing, as ever), and the fact I'm fucked off with all of it in general... It seems the 'if you've got nothing to hide brigade' has got balls-deep into ...

Impending UK Law - "Snooper's Charter".

Hey, So it seems the government we are suffering under is attempting to adapt our laws to be a better fit around what our 'security services' are already doing. A fucked-up state of affairs I really don't have adequate words to express my feelings over. But it gets worse; it seems they are attemptin...

Re: Praising The Cryptostorm Team

Oh go on then... Must admit, just being fed terminology has enabled me to go off and learn so much. Admittedly, most of that learning results in the realisation that I know fuck all, but that to me is always the beginning of more. Fascinating stuff. Love the fact they're absolute shite at marketing/...

Re: Trouble connecting OpenVPN with stock Asus RT-N66U firmware

Yeah, ditto. Seems nothing is happening in that regard, though, from what I've read. We can only hope they are particularly needy and read these forums :D A really low power processor with AES-NI instruction set would be nice, too, while I'm whoring myself. The Intels I've seen with it are just a bi...

Re: Trouble connecting OpenVPN with stock Asus RT-N66U firmware

@my13s

I get about 12.5mbps through an Asus RT-AC68U, max. No amount of faffing (overclocking, settings etc) has coaxed more out of it for me, although I am by no means an expert in these things.

A great guide for me (very much the newb). Being the sort of person that would rather pick up a nasty infestation of scabies than use Windows, the Linux hardening section was of particular interest and use.

Thanks anon.

I think Chelsea and Ed made clear that it ain't just paranoia! Tealc, thanks for the info. With being such a newb in this regard all is helpful. I'll play with OpenWRT on the retired little black box - I'll not be able to encourage those in my peer group to give this stuff a go if it's solely based ...

Re: WNR3500U/L/V2 - Tomato 1.28 - Speed issues

/\ Oops. In conclusion, the solution to my Netgear woes in a family usage context was to buy the Asus RT-AC68U. Everything is better. To labour the point to those in a similar situation to mine; you really do get what you pay for...unfortunately. Fuck you, GCHQ/NSA! You'll never know the vaguely lef...

WNR3500U/L/V2 - Tomato 1.28 - Speed issues

Hi, I'm finding a huge loss of speed when my VPN is run from my (new)router as opposed to from my laptop, and as I now want my entire home network passing through the VPN that is really quite annoying. My router has been set up as per this guide - https://cryptostorm.org/viewtopic.php?t=6097 Peak sp...
